Week 12

And here we are week 12, wow..
So I thought it was cute how, this was very mixed, I thought about doing my own mix up, but um, probably not quite ready to do it! Kids into criminals, now that I understood! Where does it end? That was the main message of this.

Week 11

I honestly am still not sure what the long tail is. I am guessing it is kind of like a snow ball. The last part where he talks about how cheaper phone calls to india led to out sourcing. And ow DVD's led to netflix, it was quite interesting. I guess I love the long tail, love my Netflix and my technology.

week 10

Wow doesn't feel possible that we are in week ten. Sadly though I am eagerly counting down the minutes until week 12! My life is so hectic I have NO time at all...I barely even shower sad yes it is!
So today I did a little podcast about my life with my dogs I did it on Spreaker and the first one...well not sure what happened it was a full five minutes plus...well lets just say somehow my computer froze..and therefore lost my podcast.So I made another and here she is!

Vlog, taking it on the road, week 9

Well I decided to just do a day in the life,although I should have started taping early in the am... I tried my best with my busy schedule, and what you are seeing is actually quite a few hours of editing and video taping.

Vlog

Well I hope no one actually sees this! It is late, but trust me I have been working on this forever, and for some reason I can never get a silent moment! So What you are seeing is a pretty edited (children screaming like they are dying and dogs barking etc) but it still has some comical moments.....or should I say disasters, especially when the dogs hair looks absolutely terrible!

The Kindle "Fire"

I myself own a Kindle Fire, I love it, it is amazing, and actually I had no idea that a Kindle could read books out loud, so I am going to have to check that out in a bit!
While reading through the links given in class I branched out and did a little of my own research and found this quote from http://www.georgeforce.com/?p=197 
about the lawsuit "If this lawsuit goes through, I wouldn’t be surprised if it becomes illegal to read books aloud."
Basically the people behind the law suit "the guild" says that the computer voices that change text to audio will undermine the audio book market and basically all those famous actors and such reading those audio cds we like to listen to in the car will be out of work.
Amazon remains steadfast saying the books are properly licenced.

As for my opinion? I'm not really sure.

Copyright infrindgemnt, or fair use? Week 6

So after reading the article about how the street artist Shepard Fairey used a picture of Obama he found on Google search to make a poster supporting the campaign, I was kind of up in the air about it.
I do think he changed it enough though, even the person who took the original photo had no idea that he had taken it!
It is a fine line though, and I believe that before you take someones photo, you should at least try and see if you can have permission to change it, even if you are making it into something they themselves won't recognize.
That's my take on it at least.

week 5 phone art

Being on Facebook a lot, I notice lots of my friends post beautiful pictures with their phones.
I enjoy my ipod for reading, writing and yes pictures, not sure about painting, but it seems similar to using a paint program on the computer.
I really enjoy paint on the computer because it keeps the kids occupied and I don't have to scramble around to find paper and picture!
One of my friends is really talented. I don't know exactly which program she uses, but her digital art is amazing! I myself created a painting of my dog using paint.

Week 4 Creative Commons

I am writing this week about creative commons, it is a non profit organization. They offer copyrights for the online world.
Basically for artist who want to get there stuff out there but also retain some rights.
They offer various forms of copyrights.

NonCommercial - A non-commercial license lets others copy, distribute, perform creative works and derivative works, but only for noncommercial purposes (anyone using the creative works cannot profit from it).

ShareAlike - A ShareAlike license allows others to distribute derivative works under a license identical to the one held by the original copyright holder.

NoDerivative Works - A NoDerivative Works clause allows others to copy, distribute, display and perform the exact copywritten works and no derivative works can be created.

Attribution - An Attribution license means creative works can be copied, distributed, displayed, or performed and derivative works can be created, provided that appropriate credit to the original copyright holder is given.

 

I found the video very interesting. It made me really stop and think. What else is possible? Will we be able to get our drivers licenses on line? Will long lines at the DMV be a thing of the past?
We can shop, fill out forms, do all our banking, pay all our bills,even buy a pet online! That is pretty amazing.
Soon we won't even have to go anywhere, we will be Skyping our Dr. or doing a job interview, I mean there are endless possibilities.

Week 2 my Cloud

I cannot imagine what my life would be like without my cloud! I have a blog I have had for several years and even though at first I was hesitant to join Facebook I don't know now how I lived without it!
I really enjoy reading on my Kindle and love watching movies on Netflix.
I also enjoy downloading new movies instantly to my PS3.
I shop online and have met so many of my friends online. Really good friends I would have never had met had it not been for the internet.
I have lots of info stored online.
Since the beginning I have stored pictures online. It is incredibly convenient to always have a fresh copy of the picture you want and just print it off if needed.

First day of class

I really enjoy blogging and I hope that I learn alot from this class!
I have been reading blogs for about 8 years now. And Have had my own blog for around the same time. I use it to write about what is happening in my family and how the kids are growing. Uploading photos of them etc.
I have no background in technology, just kind of self taught, but I have always loved bing on the computer and I also love gadgets.
I really want to learn more about the terms used in web building and learn how to write HTML.
I have taken a moodle class before so I am not nervous about it. I am just kind of nervous that I will miss something. Time passes pretty quickly in the summer so I am afraid I might miss an assignment or something!
